William McNew

       William McNew was born in Texas on May 8, 1864.  He married Nettie Fry on June 17, 1889, in Hillsboro, New Mexico.  Historian C. L. Sonnichsen described McNew as "a tough Texan with ice-blue eyes" and Historian Katie Stoes said he was "considered an all-round bad man."   McNew, who spent his life as a rancher, died on June 13, 1937.
